Welcome to the website of the amazing Spanish Harlow Orchestra.
Our site is just being built, so please come back and visit soon. In the meantime, if you would like to get in touch please send us an email.
The Spanish Harlow Orchestra are a 9-piece band
bringing the sounds of salsa and latin jazz to the Eastern region.
Adam Amor - tenor, soprano saxes; backing vocals; composer, arranger and band
leader.
During his 5-year residency in New York, Adam studied with Tito Puente, Luis
Bauzo and Paquito D'Rivera. Since returning to the UK he has made translating
his musical experiences into a vibrant latin-based orchestra one of his priorities.
The Spanish Harlow Orchestra (SHO) is the result.
SHO features the great Pete Lemer on piano. Pete is famous for touring with
Ginger Baker in the Baker-Gurvitz Army and for being a core member of Barbara
Thompson's Paraphanalia.
The band is anchored by the double bass of Steve Cook who has previously worked
with Soft Machine, Paraphanalia and Mike Westbrook.
The voice of SHO is Laura Tarantini-Amor. New York-born of Puerto Rican decent,
Laura combines Salsa and Soul for a truly sensational sound.
Will Street (violin) and Angus Moncrieff (trumpet) both studied jazz at Berklee
College in the US. Both are bandleaders, composers and arrangers in their own
rights. Will has appeared with Michael Brecker and Shirley Horn.
David Ellingham (Baritone and Alto saxophones) is the in-demand Cambridge-based
sax player who puts the tone in baritone sax.
Alternating between timbales and congas are two of the most sought after and
versatile percussionists in the region, Andy Vellacott and Mike Cuthbert.
Since it's Salsa music, bring your dancing shoes and dancing
friends.
Many thanks for visiting.
